Fl!p is the psytrance DJ project of Melbourne-based artist Alastair Roberts Thomson. Born in South Africa, he discovered electronic music in his early teens through acts like The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, and Faithless. In his late teens, he began attending uplifting trance events, where psytrance first caught his attention.

After experiencing Dickster’s sunrise set at his first Victorian doof in 2010, Fl!p truly connected with the essence of full-on psytrance. His sound has since evolved toward darker, more psychedelic night-time full-on — a style that blends groovy full-on rhythms with the twisted leads of forest and dark psy to create high-energy dancefloor journeys.

Active within Melbourne’s psytrance scene, Fl!p has supported international artists such as Tristan, Farebi Jalebi, Atriohm, and Arjuna, while continuing to draw inspiration from local legends like Glacial, Cyan, Harry Blotter, and Dirge.
