Strain, a.k.a Rahil Malde, born and raised in Kenya, first took to the Psychedelic scene in 2008 in Cape Town, South Africa, while undertaking his tertiary education. He quickly became accustomed to the night time twilight psychedelic scene well known to South Africa. It didn't take long before he gained residencies at local product events, namely Beartrap Productions and later on The Village SA. By 2012 he joined joined the Replicant Records team as the South African Label DJ. Strain became a common name on festivals throughout the season playing on some of the biggest psy trance stages with well known artists from around the world. By 2015 Rahil returned to Kenya to focus on his career as an Engineering while staying in touch with the Psy community. Strain has managed to release 3 Various Artists Compilations all themed under the Volume "Compression Session", the last of which (Compression Session V3: The War) topped the Beatport charts in 2019. By 2022, Strain has rejoined forces with Glacial (Richard Sloane) to bring and all new Replicant Records. In theme with the new Replicant Records, you can expect the new Strain sound to have deeper psychedelic soundscapes while maintaining his night time and aggressive edge.
